What Makes Our Calves Different
· Purebred, not papered.
We focus on health, temperament, and handling—not chasing registration papers.
Our buyers come to us for a calm family companion, not a piece of paper.
· Socialized from day one.
Each calf is haltered, handled, and accustomed to humans.
We guarantee they can be approached in a confined space and have been haltered at least three times.
· Backed by a real health warranty.
Up to 24 months for reproductive soundness. Not just words—a written contract.
· No hidden surprises.
Every calf comes with a complete Written Offer: birth details, full health history,
dated photos, and videos. You see everything.
How We Sell Our Calves
We’re glad you’re interested in one of our Highland calves.
We sell a small number of hand‑raised, human‑socialized Highland calves each year. Our process is built entirely around transparency and trust. No pressure, no hidden fees, and everything in writing before a single dollar changes hands.
Here’s exactly how it works:
1. Tell us about yourself (30 seconds)
We ask every buyer a few quick questions before we share calf details — not because we’re nosy, but because we want to make sure a Highland is the right fit for your land and your life. Baby calves become 1,000‑lb animals that live 20 years. We want them to go to great, prepared homes.
We’ll ask about:
· Your acreage and setup
· Your experience with cattle
· Your goals (family cow? breeding? show?)
There are no wrong answers — just a simple conversation to make sure the match is right on both sides.
2. If a calf is available, you get the Written Offer
If we have a calf that’s a good fit, we’ll send you what we call a Written Offer. It’s a one‑page document that contains:
· Birth date, sex, color, and twin status
· Full known health history
· At least 2 dated photos and 2 videos of movement and behavior
· Sire/dam information (if available)
Everything is documented together so there’s zero confusion about what was disclosed when.
3. You get 96 hours — free, zero obligation
From the moment you receive a complete Written Offer, the calf is held exclusively for you for 96 hours (4 days). No deposit, no fee. Use this time to:
· Read through our full contract
· Ask us anything at all
· Talk it over with your family
· Arrange transport
We want you to feel completely comfortable and confident before you decide.
4. If you say yes — contract, deposit, and she’s yours
Here’s what happens if you decide to move forward:
1. You sign the Written Offer (accept the calf)
2. You sign the Sales Contract — a plain‑language, legally binding agreement that protects both of us
3. You pay a 25% deposit (the only payment until pickup)
The moment the deposit clears, the calf is marked SOLD and removed from the market. We’ll send you a receipt, and we’ll stay in touch with photo and video updates as she grows
5. Pickup at weaning (6–7 months)
Pickup happens on our farm in Valley Ford, California. We handle the California brand inspection, provide a health certificate, and give you a starter pack of her current feed plus a written transition protocol so her first weeks at home are smooth.
Boarding is free until 7 months. After that, modest daily rates apply — all spelled out in advance, no surprises.
6. Health warranty — real protection, not fine print
· 30 days general health warranty from pickup
· 12 months extended coverage for freemartinism, cryptorchidism, and genetic defects
· 24 months coverage for heifer reproductive structural issues
If a covered issue arises, you choose the remedy: full refund, 75% refund and keep the calf, or a replacement calf of equal quality. Our contract puts your choice in writing.
Your Written Offer Includes
· Birth date, sex, color, twin status
· Full known health history
· At least 2 dated photos and 2 videos
· Sire/dam information (when available)
· Any available vet records or genetic tests

Testimonial
“I was full of questions and a little anxious—buying our first Highland felt like a big leap.
But from the very first message, Heritage Herds put us at ease.
They sent a detailed Written Offer with photos, videos, and her full health history,
and they gave us four full days to decide, with no pressure at all. When our heifer finally stepped off the trailer, she walked in like she’d been here her whole life—
calm, curious, and completely at home.
That kind of trust doesn’t happen by accident. It’s bred, handled, and cared for long before you ever meet her.We didn’t just buy a calf. We found a breeder who actually answers the phone,
who sends update photos while you wait, and who clearly loves what they do.
If you’re on the fence, let this be your sign.”
